You
may wonder why
you can only receive this station in and around the Headwaters Park/Logan area. To comply with FCC
regulations, our power is limited to a very small wattage. This limits
the range of the signal so it will not interfere with any commercial
broadcast.
We are very cautious to screen our
playlist for
offensive lyrics and off-color themes. If someone drops the 'F' bomb, we delete the song in most cases. There are times when we edit the words out if it is only in one spot though it is rare we take the time. We appreciate input from those
who listen. Our goal is to play music 24/7 and try to be eclectic
enough to appeal to most musical tastes. Our library contains all
genres of music except Gangsta Rap and Opera. It is mostly Rock
&
Roll and Blues, but there is a bit of Country, Heavy Metal, Western,
Crooning, Folk, Blue Grass, New Age, Insurgent Country and Jazz and there is just a bit of Hip - Hop. It spans the
decades and generations that reflect the make up of our small town and nation. The
selection is totally random. Sinatra can follow the Grateful Dead as
easily as Montana Rose can follow Nat King Cole. If you find any of our
music offensive, email us
and we will remove it from the Playlist.
Also, if there is certain music you feel needs to be added, let us know
and we will consider the suggestions. We do not accept unsolicited emailed music. Check out our playlist to
see the variety of music we have collected over the years. The Artist list
is updated frequently, the Song list maybe quarterly. Both were last updated in January 2012.
We use a small stereo transmitter from Ramsey Electronics
which was purchased in 1999 and has never given us any problems.
Originally purchased to keep in touch with concert goers to Rockin' the
Rockies (now Rockin'
the Rivers),
we put it to good service just to listen to music without the need
to keep trading out CDs. The first years we used a Sony 100 CD
changer, now we
use an old Dell computer that was retired from its former duties. There is now a country festival at 'the Bridge' the last week in June. Check it out here Headwaters Country Jam.
In
case you were wondering we have about 41,733 songs on the playlist. This is more than 2700 hours, over 113 days of listening.
This represents years of collecting music. Many of our songs are very unique. We have hundreds of tracks by local artists. Wade Montgomery, Tessy Lou, Rob, Mike Myers, Bill and others have given music to share. Demo CDs from bands that played and sometimes did not play at the Bridge. We trade photos for music with the great bands that come to the two festivals. Many tracks are from old LPs that have been ripped to digital format. Sometimes we check out a few CDs from the local library and rip those. There are hundreds of songs that are not listed in the playlists. Sometimes if they were 'Unknown Artist' or 'Track 2' we have no idea who did the song or the title. There are even times when we have no idea what we are listening to. A few times a year we do splurge and buy new music. We hear a song on a radio station and wonder how we missed that album all this time. A couple of times a year we look up the list of top songs for a decade and try to make sure we have them all. Our goal is to have all the top 1000 songs from each decade since the 50s. We have @ 90% of them now. There was a time when only classic rock and blues would do. Now we are starting to acquire some more modern artists. Some new music is actually good. I recently purchased a huge box of 78s at a yard sale. When we get the time, maybe we will go through those and see if they are worth ripping. There are some songs that are duplicates, even
triplicates in some rare instances. Some are retakes, some live vs
studio recordings, some are the same song by different artists, and
some just slip
by the editor. We are adding to our library on an ongoing
basis.
Always looking for songs, new or old, that we have missed. Due to
consideration for the Recording Industry and the Artists who work hard
bringing us music, we will not share our playlist over the net nor do we accept unsolicited music via email.
